Letterland - Programme 2 : Making Words - Onsets and Rimes

Making Words: Onsets and Rimes Book 2 is a simple and practical way for children to experiment with onset and rime and to create their own real and nonsense words. This effective classroom tool focuses on the key phonemes recommended by the NLS to be covered at the end of Year 1 and throughout Year 2. All the phonemes are featured in full colour using the Letterland pictograms, and then as plain letters on the facing pages enabling children to make the transition from picture-coded to plain letter sounds.

This feature makes the book a really useful tool for non-Letterland teachers as well. Making Words Book 2 is ideal for the whole class session of the Literacy Hour, but with its robust fold out board stand it would be particularly useful for group and independent work.
