Somewhere in the middle of Spain, a Winnebago caravan is parked on some wasteland at the base of a mountain.

It is raining heavily. Brad, an American, is sprawled on a seat at the rear of the Winnebago.

He is wearing sixteenth-century costume...The door opens.

Stuart, an Englishman, struggles up the steps. He has a bag in one hand, a plate and coffee cup in the other.

He, too, is half-dressed in costume, over which he wears an anorak.

His head is covered with a transparent plastic hood to keep the rain off his wig...Marooned on location miles from anywhere, confined in a tiny space by the unrelenting rain, film actors Brad and Stuart can do no filming.

Instead they taunt and maul each other in a magnificently sustained verbal duel, a love-hate clash of cultures, countries and personalities.

Based on the author's own, bleak experience, "Wet Weather Cover" premieres in the West End in autumn 2006 produced by Robert Fox and starring Rupert Everett, with further casting to be announced.

The play was first seen at the Royal Court in a reading given by John Malkovich and the author.
