Nicholas Nickleby or The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby ( or also The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Containing a Faithful Account of the Fortunes, Misfortunes, Uprisings, Downfallings, and Complete Career of the Nickleby Family) is a novel by Charles Dickens basically printed as a series from 1838 to1839.

It was Dickens's third novel. The story narrates the life and daring experiences of Nicholas Nickleby, a youth who should take care his mother and sister after his father demised.

Nicholas father demises suddenly after getting a shock losing his whole money in a poor funding.

Nicholas, his mother and his younger sister, Kate, are compelled to leave their cosy lifestyle in Devonshire and travel to London to look for the help of their only relative, uncle, Ralph Nickleby.

Ralph, a heartless businessman, has no will to help Nicholas.

He helps Nicholas to get a low paying job, as a helper to Wackford Squeers.
