A hundred years ago, influential Dutch theologian and statesman Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920) delivered his famous Stone Lectures on Calvinism at Princeton, (New Jersey, USA).

To celebrate this occasion, the conference Christianity and Culture: The Heritage of Abraham Kuyper on different Continents, was organized at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam.

The first section of this volume focuses on Kuyper's ideas and ideals, viewed from a cultural/historical perspective.

Part two contains contributions on Kuyper's theology and its reception, while part three enters into several aspects of Kuyper's philosophy and anthropology.

In the fourth section his thought on a pluralistic society is illuminated.

Finally, the fifth part brings together contributions which focus on historiographic perspectives.
