Perfectly Black

Let's have the conversation of being perfect and being black.

Perfectly black is a compilation of thoughts for readers to embrace and enjoy. Many will be enlightened through this content and texture.

Often criticized for embracing my culture, I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the intent of oppression. Oppression of our culture through systemic culturally divisive abuse by many. Why do I say opportunity? If I would not have climbed the ladder of success, I would not have been afforded the opportunity of witnessing the glass ceilings put in place for the sole purpose of keeping our community down. Or as some would say, in our place.

You will hear my voice and also the voice of my daughter, Gabrielle (Gabby) Madden. Gabby and I had a conversation as I was writing that stuck with me. I asked her if she would want to share her thoughts? Gabby's response, yes.

So, Let's have the conversation of being perfect and being black.

Let's use this opportunity to look inside our own windows and grab hold to the lingering voices that cried out over our souls.

Let us not stay in the place of community disruption.

Let us breath freshness, loyalty, and since of self into us.

Our victory is found within ourselves. As we learn to embrace the privilege given through our unique ability to lead, we will surely grow stronger together. Let's have the conversation and go to work!
