The outbreak of war on 3rd September 1939 was to affect the lives of people in many parts of the world.

Here in Britain it was anticipated that towns and cities would be vulnerable to air attack especially in those areas near industrial installations.

As a precaution, children considered to be at most risk were evacuated from their homes to the safety of the countryside.

This book reiterates the experiences of an evacuee during that time and in comparison, expresses life during the period prior to the onset of the conflict.
