‘Every child should experience the joy of seeing themselves represented in books’
It is essential that children see a true reflection of our society in the books they read, and see themselves in books. Children should also be able to admire an author 'just like me'
Browns has curated an exciting list of diverse books that will help children of all ages to build knowledge, empathy and tolerance for different backgrounds
Our selected book each include a diverse cast - some actively teach about diversity, some have a fantastic BAME lead character, some have strong role models whether in fiction or non-fiction. Many show a diverse family or cast of characters without actively teaching about diversity - allowing children to always see differences represented and celebrated in all the book they read.
