A Practical Guide in Non-Ionising Electromagnetic Fields and Radiation Assessments

This report offers a practical interpretation of the National Radiation Protection Board (NRPB) statement on restrictions on human exposure to static and time varying electromagnetic fields (EMF) and radiation.

It includes a section on NRPB-R301 1998. The application of NRPB guidelines on occupational exposure to EMF forms a major part of the report.

The report then provides: a general measurement procedure which can be applied to different industrial processes for EM exposure assessment, including a summarized flow diagram of the assessment procedure; all relevant equations related to EM waves; tables of the maximum electric and magnetic field strengths, exposure to which would not exceed the basic restrictions on induced current densities and specific absorption rates (SARs); application of the NRPB investigation levels and basic restrictions for compliance with measured EMF parameters; and preventive options for reducing EMF exposure.
