A Crime of Vengeance : Armenian Struggle for Justice

The first - and still most controversial - genocide of the 20th century was the slaughter of 1.5 million Armenians by Turkish troops around 1915.

Even now the world will not acknowledge this tragic event, and last year the U.S.

Senate narrowly defeated a resolution to commemorate those who died in the genocide. "A Crime of Vengeance" reinforces the Armenian claim upon the conscience of the West by recovering a long-forgotten postscript: the story of Soghomon Tehlirian, a young survivor of the 1915 massacres who in 1921 tracked down and publicly murdered the high-ranking Turkish official, then living in Berlin, who authorized the killings.

Tehlirian's trial made international headlines - all the more so when a jury of Berliners acquitted him - the first public ackowledgement of this outrageous injustice against the Armenian people.
