This report covers the work of the Animal Procedures Committee and its various sub-committees - Applications, Primates, Research and Alternatives, Education and Training, Housing and Husbandry - and the Suffering and Severity Working Group.

The main features from the Committee's work in 2006 were: acceptance of overseas centres supplying non-human primates to UK laboratories, a report by the Primates Sub-committee (annex E); review of schedule 1 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, appropriate methods of humane killing (annex G); an update for the housing and care of animals used in scientific procedures - an aide-memoire for users and staff comparing proposed changes to European legislation to existing UK codes of practice (annex J); and the Education and Training Sub-committee report on modular training (annex K).

The report concludes with the Committee's work plan for 2007.
