Hope is now best known for the classic novel The Prisoner of Zenda and its sequel Rupert of Hentzau.The Prisoner of Zenda is an adventure novel set in the kingdom of Ruritania.

The book starts with the King of Ruritania being drugged by his brother the night before his coronation.Rupert of Hentzau is set in the late 19th century, three years after the conclusion of the Prisoner of Zenda.

The book includes most of the same characters and much of the action occurs in the kingdom of Ruritania.

Similar to The Prisoner of Zenda, there have been many films made based off this book.
