The bathroom department of B&Q may not be the most romantic place in the world but Ruth is overjoyed when Dan proposes to her over the roller blinds. Saying yes is just the beginning.
The two families couldn t be more different. Ruth s family are working class, Jewish, from Manchester, voluble, excitable and full of life. Dan s parents are sedate, well off and quite keen on a church wedding. As the respective mothers-in-law start a tug-of-war over the wedding, Ruth is torn between staying true to her family and being accepted by Dan s mother. The Collinses and the Blakes are squaring up for battle. And Dan seems blithely unaware of any problem at all. It s a recipe for disaster - but no one can be sure which direction the disaster is coming from...
