The Burning Days : A dystopian tale

June looked over her shoulder. She was blond, tanned from the sun, and as she kneeled in the garden, her long, pale hair fell over her face. Upstairs in the farmhouse, a window curtain was quickly moved back into place and the dog, Sherpa, barked somewhere inside but was hushed.

How odd, she thought. Why?

And suddenly, June didn't feel safe in her home anymore. In this dystopian tale, it is 2060. The American Civil War of 2045 has divided the county into Regions. Law and order are kept by the National Police Force, a force that has gone rogue. Floods, fires, and dust storms are ravaging the country, and without rain, the burning sun is killing everything in the Southern Region. There is little food, and water is trucked in from the Northern Kingdom. June has fled from the home she loves, and the only direction she can head is to the North, the Region where her father died in the war, enemy territory - and the only course she can take to save her life.

Yet, in the Northern Region, June finds refuge from the burning days, and except for one NPF agent who has her in his sights, she finds friendship and even love on the road and in the Garden State.
