It was a pivital period with several countries emerging from colonial administration with their own governments.

This was also the time when independence wars were inflaming much of the area.

It is an account of people's lives and for many little has changed over the years.

From expatriates, autocratic power regimes, savanna bars and cross country bus journeys, it is a colourful story.

The book provides an understanding of Africa which is both amusing and informative.
