The Survey of English Housing is a continuous survey which started in 1993.

It provides key housing data on tenure, owner occupation and the social rented sector, and regular information about the private rented sector.

This edition reports on a survey of 18,650 households in the year beginning 12 April 1999.

Specific chapters deal with: trends in tenure; new and recently moving households; owner occupiers; social renters; private renters; households in the most deprived wards; attitudes to the local area; tenants' views of their landlords.

Each chapter is supported by a large set of annexe tables, and there is a number of appendices with technical details of the survey.
