It uses 12 case studies, eyewitness accounts, photographs and background information to help children understand the scenes of devastation they see on television and encourage them to think from a new perspective.

The case studies have been taken from all around the world and look at a range of situations.

In India, in 1993 an earthquake hit that measured 6.4 on the richter scale, it destroyed over 100 villages and left 150,000 people homeless.This book also contains advice on ideas for fundraising and is published in association with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which coordinate international disaster relief and promote development.

The societies receive a donation for every book sold.
