The paintings of Polish artist Wilhelm Sasnal (b. 1972 Tarnow, Poland) chronicle the complex experience of contemporary life.

In a visual culture flooded by photographic images, his work attests to the continuous spellbinding power of painting.

Sasnal is recognized as one of the most original voices to come out of post-Communist Poland.

Having exhibited widely in Europe and America, his work is held in important international collections such as Museum of Modern Art, New York; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Tate Modern, London and the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw.

This publication offers a comprehensive overview of his paintings and short films realized between 1999-2011 and includes an in-depth interview between the artist and Achim Borchardt-Hume, Chief Curator, Whitechapel Gallery, London and an essay byUlrich Wilmes, Curator, Haus der Kunst, Munich.
