Wishing Bird looks at her reflection in a pool of water and doesn't like what she sees.

She decides her feathers are too many colours and begins to wish to be different.

Every time she sees a different coloured animal she wishes to be like it and her feathers change colour.

In the end she realises she looks best in her original state and wishes her feathers back the way they were at the start of the story.
