In Romania in the days of Ceaucescu, Liliana is a maid at a hotel where a group of party grandees are enjoying a birthday party.

Presented as dessert, she is raped by the evil Mincu.

Years later, she sees him again and Cox, an ageing British spy, is informed of someone with a grudge against Mincu.
