This volume aims to help facilities managers procure risk assessment services from contractors working to the best practices and to fulfil their duties under health and safety legislation.

The book provides the basis for a risk assessment contract between the client and the contractor and states the scope of the specification includes the identification and assessment of risks to people due to the quality of water and the manner in which it is used.

These risks may include, but are not limited to, legionella and other pathogens as well as the consequential risks arising from the control measures.

The objective of the contract is for the contractor to provide an assessment of the risks arising from water systems to that the client may manage and minimise those risks.

The book also includes the identification of all "at risk" systems by visual inspection follwoed by detailed assessment of selected risks and/or systems.

The specification must be read in conjunction with, and may be modified by, other documents comprising the full project specification.

This is the companion volume to "Guidance to the Standard Specification for Water Services Risk Assessment".
