An edition based on the text contained in the Zaragoza "Parte" (1636).

Now republished for the first time since the 17th century, the "Zaragoza" verson is preceded by a lengthy introductory study in which Ruano offers important evidence and new deductions convincingly to establish that Calderon wrote two versions of "La vida es sueno" (Life's a Dream): a first version - the "Zaragoza" play, written probably before 1630 and primarily for performance - and a revised version (1635) for publication in the "Primera parte" of his plays (Madrid, 1636).

Also included are comprehensive textual notes and an exhaustive comparison of the two versions, with full lists of their variants.

This book is in Spanish.
