A story of innovation which begins in the late 1930s.

It identifies many of the engineers and scientists whose research and development became the foundation of British radar technology.

The first part describes the origins and activities of CVD, the organization responsible for research and development of the transmitting and receiving valves, display tubes and other active components used by the Navy, Army and Air Force in radar and communications equipment.

The second part includes an introduction to radar technology and outlines of two typical war-time systems, to assist readers without specialized knowledge.
