Application of number: Projects for GNVQ health & social care Advanced - Projects for Gnvq Health and Social Care - Advanced

This pack contains 24 photocopiable projects. They enable students to apply their number skills on projects which explicitly cover the Application of number evidence indicators at level 3, in the context of the Advanced Health and Social Care GNVQ. By completing these projects, students will generate evidence for all three elements of the Application of number unit at level 3 and improve their understanding of the numerical aspect of health and social care concepts, for example, bed occupancy rates.

Students should also be able to develop their skills in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in graphs, charts and network diagrams. Each project consists of an introductory page linking it to the appropriate units and elements of the Advanced Health and Social Care GNVQ.

A health and social care scenario describing a realistic situation in which number skills are needed is also included, together with a list of steps which students have to work through to complete the project.

A range of the techniques from level 3 Application of number is provided for students who will need to use it to complete it. The pack also contains model answers to the projects; guidelines for intergrating the projects in assignments; a teacher's introduction; a students' introduction, and grids relating each project to the mandatory units and elements of the Advanced Health and Social Care GNVQ, and to the Application of number elements at level 3.
