Here in Eastern Kentucky not everyone believes in ghosts, but almost everyone has a ghost story to tell.

Some of the stories I have collected are very personal and others are legends or stories that have been passed down from generation to generation.

The stories I have collected cover a wide range of topics.

The topics include everything from strange unexplainable noises to full bodied apparitions.

Eastern Kentucky is rich with ghost stories and folklore and these are just a few. Herman Webb, brother of country music icon Loretta Lynn submitted stories of his youth and strange occurrences that took place in the small coal town of Van Lear, located in Johnson County.

Every story in this book means something to the people who shared them with me.

This book is just a glimpse into the lives, legends and stories of the people who live on the Dark and Bloody Ground
