Jesus presents three metaphors about prayer: ask, seek and knock.

The first word ("ask", Gr. aiteite) means to pray with a sense of dependency. It is used by the person who arrives empty-handed and says "I have nothing to buy." Jesus never prayed like that, that is, like someone very poor.

But this is how we must ask the father, as destitute and in need of everything.

The second word ("seek", Greek zeteite) contains the idea of care or concern and characterizes anxious anxiety, that is, we must pray under the urgency of a great desire or expectation.

A third word ("batam" gr. krouete) implies the ideas of dependency and effort that the other two convey.

It is the best expression of the popular adage, which says: "Faith in God and get to work.

These are the three basic rules of a correct and effective prayer: persistence.
