An Introduction to Stylistics

Addressing the Language Theory section of the NEAB A-Level English Language syllabus, this textbook introduces students to the principles of studying the grammatical structure and form of written texts in order to understand how they convey their meaning.

It covers literary and non-literary texts, and provides a working theory of grammar which is especially useful for the growing number of candidates for English Language A-Level syllabuses who have had no previous instruction in the subject.

There are exercises and activities throughout the book, and suggestions for project work and extended study.
