A Troubled Dream

In the years after the Second World War, many West Indians came to live and work in Britain - the country which, only a few years earlier, many had fought to protect - following recruitment drives by such institutions as London Transport and the National Health Service.

These new arrivals sought a life of prosperity in the mother country', but in reality they were often faced with a hostile and unwelcoming environment.

A TROUBLED DREAM tells the story of a young couple whose lives reflect the continuing dilemmas faced by West Indians in English society.'
