Collieries West of the Rhonnda

This book features a selection of nearly 100 photographs from the previously published "Collieries of South Wales Vols 1 & 2" available in an affordable format.

For many years John Cornwell worked in Britain's coalfields, perfecting his method of underground photography.

Using standard Coal Board lighting he was able to obtain with immaculate clarity, underground headings, shafts and coal faces, together with the workforce and mining landscapes.

Collieries featured include, Abernant, Aberpergwm, Ammanford, Betws, Blaengwrach, Brynlliw/Morlais, Cefn Coed/Blaenant, Clydach Merthyr, Coegnant, Cwmgwili & Lindsey, Cynheidre, Garw & Ffaldau, Glyntillery, Graig Merthyr, Scotts Pit, St Johns, Treforgan, and Wyndham/Western.
