Collieries of Blaenavon and the Eastern Valleys

A Selection of over 100 photographs from the previously published Collieries of South Wales Vols. 1 & 2, now available in this single volume. For many years John Cornwell worked in the Welsh coalfields perfecting his method of underground photography.

Using standard Coal Board lighting he was able to obtain, with immaculate clarity, photographs of underground headings, shafts and coalfaces, together with the workforce and mining landscapes.
