What began as the homeland of native tribes developed into ideal farmland for early settlers.

Development continued as the region evolved into the premier breeding ground for world-famous thoroughbreds, helping to bring the Bluegrass international recognition as the epicenter of American horse racing and equestrian culture.

Yet development of the region has never stopped. The rolling hills, limestone fences and legendary horse farms that once defined the landscape continue to vanish as suburban sprawl stretches into the far reaches of the Bluegrass.
