Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture : The Geography of Enlightenment

Always interdisciplinary, the field of eighteenth-century studies has recently become genuinely international.

To reflect this global emphasis, this volume of Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture gathers four essays under the rubric of "The Geography of Enlightenment." Set in a variety of local habitations from the European periphery to the American frontier, each of these essays addresses how a relative sense of place determines interpretation.
