Audio-visual Statistics Report

Since 1980 the audio-visual sector has been evolving from a technical, legal, economic and policy point of view.

Fully aware of the strategic, economic, social and cultural role played by the sector, the EU has for many years, actively promoted policies to develop and stimulate the European audio-visual sector.

Due to its complexity and rapid devlopments in information technologies and products, knowledge of this sector supported by comparable and harmonized official statistics is essential.

This publication presents a starting point for regular documentation on the audio-visual sector and a concrete basis for a future Eurostat reference publication.
