Captorhinomorpha is a suborder of prehistoric reptiles which appeared in the Carboniferous period and became extinct after the Early Permian period.

The suborder includes the earliest known reptiles, with some amphibian features, but their skulls belongs to reptilian forms and differing from amphibians in the structure of the pelvic girdle.

The Carboniferous was a time of glaciation, low sea level and mountain building, diversification and extinction; a minor marine and terrestrial extinction event among animals and plants (Carboniferous Rainforest Collapse) occurred in the middle of the period caused by climate change.
