The theme for our new edition of "Quiet Spaces" is Today.

Learning to live now, in our own today, is important.

For each of us this will mean different contexts, challenges and opportunities.

Tim Blewett will help us think about learning to live in the context of our own day, drawing inspiration from his own life and circumstances.

Our new editor, Heather Fenton, encourages us to look at a day in the life of Jesus.

His day began with receiving bad news about his cousin John.

Upon receiving this, Jesus naturally wants to spend time by himself, but was soon surrounded by people hungry both for his words and for their lunch!

Having challenged the disciple's faith and fed thousands of people, at last there is opportunity for some personal space.

Before the twenty four hours were out we find him walking and challenging Peter about his faith.

The next day looks as if it will be packed too...A garden is an ideal place in which to be quiet.

Ann Persson, who regularly leads Quiet days for BRF, takes us in our imaginations into a garden she has known. She then leads us to reflect on Biblical gardens: the garden of Eden, the garden of Gethsemane and the garden at the end of Revelation where the river of the water of life flows from the throne of God down the middle of the city.

Gordon Giles, who often contributes to Quiet Spaces, is a priest and a musician.

The importance of music to him comes over in his writings.

Gordon helps us to think about God and time under the heading 'Music for Today's Soul'.
