Licia Fiol-Matta traces the careers of four iconic Puerto Rican singers-Myrta Silva, Ruth Fernandez, Ernestina Reyes, and Lucecita Benitez-to explore how their voices and performance style transform the possibilities for comprehending the figure of the woman singer.
