This collection of papers, presented at a conference entitled "Morphogenesis: Cellular Interactions" held by The New York Academy of Science on October 20-23rd 1997 in Bethesda, are concerned with the regulatory mechanisms that determine tissue and organ architecture during embryogenesis.

Early stages of morphogenesis are presented including: the development of extraembryonic membranes, mesoderm and neural crest induction, cell polarization, and angiogenesis.

The papers attempt to consolidate existing knowledge and data on regulatory mechanisms of morphogenetic events for those interested in developmental biology as well as in birth defects, wound healing and cancer research.
