Recent work in the visual arts has often investigated the opposition between natural and constructed worlds.

In "The Time After", which references the process of photography as well as the future fate of our planet, fine art photographer Doug Fogelson uses an iconoclastic multiple exposure technique in order to depict our collective surroundings, producing imagery that reflects our own alien experience of nature, as well as the distanced perspective of the viewer.

This volume collects 160 of Fogelson's spectacular images and pairs them with speculative and poetic essays by Derrick Jensen, Eiren Caffall, and Bridgette R.

McCullough. Sharply contrasting built (or processed) scenes with rich natural images, the design of these photographs speaks to both our changing understanding of our role in the environment and the increasingly prominent place of activism in contemporary art practice.
