The world's mangroves 2000–2020

Mangrove forests are among the most productive ecosystems on Earth and play a significant role in buffering against coastal erosion, storm surges and sea-level rise, all of which are accelerating due to climate change.

This report presents global and regional estimates of the area covered by mangrove forests, and analyses the drivers of the changes observed over the past two decades.
