Proceedings of the FAO International Symposium on the Future of Food : 10-11 June 2019

The Symposium addressed challenges related to the sustainability of food systems and how to eradicate malnutrition in all its forms.

It presented current knowledge and innovations among the scientific community, and served as a platform to share experiences and best practices.

Discussions centred around the following themes: 'Research, Knowledge Gaps and Needs for Sustainable Food Systems and Healthy Diets', 'Governance of food systems for healthy diets', 'Building Consumer Confidence in Food Systems', and 'Transforming Food Systems: What does it take?'.The proceedings emphasize the need for a broader food-systems approach, appropriate governance mechanisms, legal frameworks, engagement of parliamentarians, and regulatory instruments.
