Kit is horrified to meet Juniper, a girl who's been brought up completely without smell prejudice - and who's very keen on sniffing his armpits!

When an E-nose (the very latest in smell technology) is delivered to her house, Juniper tries it out - and the machine duplicates the actual people whose essences were in an old cabinet of smells, which once belonged to Dr Fell from Tudor times.

Suddenly Kit and Juniper have on their hands a real gladiator, an evil doctor (whose nose keeps dropping off), a Pig Woman and a sad little boy smelling of violets.
