Under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Committee on the Rights of the Child was established as the international expert body responsible for monitoring progress in implementation of the Convention.

This publication contains the seven 'general comments' issued by the Committee between April 2001 and November 2005 relating to various aspects of the Convention, covering: early childhood, HIV/AIDS, adolescent health, unaccompanied and separated children, the aims of education, national independent human rights institutions, and guidance on the general measures for the implementation of the Convention in the context of its operation within national systems.

The accompanying CD-ROM includes all the concluding observations adopted by the Committee in relation to State Parties reports presented by countries in Europe and Asian Republics between 1993 and 2005; as well as the status of ratification of the Convention and its two Optional Protocols.
