Tesco plc and the Co-operative Group (CWS) Limited : a report on the acquisition of the Co-operative Group (CWS) Limited's store at Uxbridge Road, Slough, by Tesco plc

On 19 April 2007, the Office of Fair Trading referred the completed acquisition of the Co-operative Group Limited's store at Uxbridge Road in Slough by Tesco plc to the Competition Commission for investigation and report.

The reference was made under section 22 of the Enterprise Act 2002.The Commission considered the competitive effects of the merger and concluded that the acquisition of the Co-op store by Tesco constituted a relevant merger situation.

They also concluded that the acquisition resulted in a substantial lessening of competition in the relevant market.This report provides the full findings of the Competition Commission investigation into this matter and offers suggested remedies to the situation.
