The youth work curriculum : a report from the Office of Her Majesty's Inspector of Schools

This publication describes and evaluates the curriculum adopted by youth workers to promote the personal development of young people in the transition to adulthood.

The overall aim of youth work outlined in a previous HMI publication ("Effective Youth Work", HMSO, 1987) is now widely accepted by the youth service.

In order to assess how effectively local youth services have been pursuing the agreed objectives, HMI undertook a survey in 1991-92.

This included visits to a wide range of youth work units in seven local youth services in order to chart the areas of experience offered to young people and assess the response.
