This report examines a Commission White Paper that outlines five policy objectives for EU space activity.

The Committee think it is a significant document that should be debated in European Standing Committee C, where attention should be paid to five issues: what is the need for a comprehensive space policy; the threatened encroachment on Member State's defence and security competence; the presumption about possible treaty revisions; the implied threat to the purely civil role of the GALILEO project; budgetary consequences.
