This report into the problems posed by human trafficking starts by looking at the human rights standards and international agreements, which form UK policy. 'Human Trafficking (HL 245-I HC 1127-I)' also examines the Council of Europe Convention, which the Government has not signed, explaining the arguments for and against signature.

The effectiveness of UK policies is then examined and compared to the approach adopted in Italy.

One of the conclusions is that in spite of some steps taken to improve the protection of victims, the current level of protection is still far from adequate.
