What happens when everything youve got to give isnt enough to save someone you love?

Its Maine. Its winter. And its FREEZING STINKIN COLD! Dinah is wildly worried about her best friend, Skint. He wont wear a coat. Refuses to wear a coat. Its twelve degrees out, and he wont wear a coat. So Dinahs going to figure out how to help. Thats what Dinah doesshe helps. But shes too busy trying to help to notice that sometimes, shes doing more harm than good. Seeing the trees instead of the forest? Thats Dinah.

And Skint isnt going to be the one to tell her. Hes a helper guy too. Hes worried about a little boy whose dad wont let him visit his mom. Hes worried about an elderly couple in a too-cold house down the street.

But the wedge between what drives Dinah and what concerns Skint is wide enough for a big old slab of ice. Because Skints own father is in trouble. Because Skints mother refuses to ask for help even though shes at her breaking point. And because Dinah might just decide tohelp. She thinks shes cracking through a sheet of ice, but whats actually there is an entire iceberg.
