The texts in this series for beginning readers have a strong phonics base and can be used at any age, from kindergarten to adult learners.

Each book includes: simple words that "work" by being sounded out; games and other activities; key words needed for literacy; methods for teaching reading; teachers' notes on how each page can best be used; and help when needed when learning to read.

In Book 1, activity sheets for children cover the foundation skills for beginning readers: handling materials (eye-hand co-ordination); seeing the differences (visual discrimiation); hearing the differences (auditory discrimination); left-to-right and top-to-bottom orientation; comprehension and general knowledge; language awareness; and number discrimination.

It also includes two reading lists which, while remaining the copyright of June Mitchelmore, may be copied for use in your home or school.
