Only Grannie Island hasn't caught the the party mood; she seems decidedly down in the dumps, especially when Katie Morag asks her if Grandad Island will be coming to the wedding.

Katie Morag decides to write to Granma Mainland. If no one else will tell her what the trouble is, perhaps she will. And so it is that when the wedding day comes, Granma Mainland arrives late -not on the ferry, but in a helicopter and not alone. . . ! Katie Morag can hardly believe her eyes when her long-lost grandfather takes off his pilot's goggles and gives her a big smile.
