Hugh's Blue Day is a delightful rhyming story that will appeal to any child who has had 'the blues'.

Geared primarily to 2-5-year-olds, it features a grumpy little boy and his fun-loving mum.

When Hugh refuses to play, mum tries to cheer him up by making the whole day 'blue'.

At first Hugh is doubtful, but he soon takes up the challenge, trying to outwit mum as she strives to make everything blue: his clothes, his food, even his toothpaste.

Hodgson's quirky rhymes and the infectious enthusiasm of Collins' colour illustrations make this a classic picture book.

Collins is one of the most acclaimed children's book illustrators and authors working today.

He has illustrated more than 70 books, including The Elephantom (shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal), The Sea Hole (winner of the MacMillan Children's Book Prize) and Billy Monster's Daymare (winner of the Royal Mail Book Award).

He lives in Glasgow, Scotland. Hodgson, a former journalist, lives in south-east England.

She is also author of The Robot Who Couldn't Cry and The Teeny-Weeny Walking Stick, both published by Hogs Back Books.
