The Development of the Small Business Sector in Hungary

This paper situates the development of the Hungarian small business sector towards a market-based economy in the context of the transition of this, the most "Western" of all former communist states in Eastern Europe.

It examines the various forms of enterprise in agricultural and industrial sectors which emerged in Hungary in the 1970s and 1980s, and the foundation this has provided for the development of the small business sector in post-communist Hungary.
